Now, this is an optional procedure, but it is highly recommended.
Since sugarcanes can be hard to find, and many times the bases that we build can be far from any water body areas, it is a good idea to make a sugarcane farm.

Sugarcanes can be used for making sugar
Sugar can be used to make cakes, pies, fermented spider eyes.
One more importance of sugar is that it can be used in a brewery to make potions, like swiftness.
[Note: Breaking sugarcane from the bottom will break all the blocks above it, so it is advised to always leave the bottom block of sugarcane intact so it keeps growing even after you take the farmed pieces on top.]

Final Procedure
Now that we have our farms ready, and hoards of sugarcane in our storage chests, we can go ahead to craft the paper we finally need.
To craft paper from sugarcane that we collected, we need a crafting table
In the crafting table, place three sugarcanes adjacently in a single row, like this :-
They can be placed in any row, top, middle, or bottom.
Left-click on the resulting square of the crafting table as you can see it is showing paper, there we go! We finally got our paper, now we know how to make a paper in Minecraft!
As the calculation clearly shows, we need sugarcanes in multiples of 3 to make paper, as 3 sugarcanes side by side give us 3 papers, so technically one piece of sugarcane is equal to one piece of paper in Minecraft.
