Thel’zan the Duskbringer

In Classic WoW, after killing Kel’Thuzad in Naxxramas, players could claim his phylactery. This phylactery was to be taken to Light’s Hope Chapel, to Father Inigo Montoy. Amnennar the Coldbringer

In the Third War, Amnennar the Coldbringer participated in the Battle of Mount Hyjal. He was later tasked by the Lich King to spread the influence of the Scourge throughout Kalimdor. To complete the task, Coldbringer created the largest monster in the history of the Scourge, Tartek. Tartek gained a great reputation among the Scourge. It was thanks to him that Amnennar the Coldbringer managed to gather an army of impressive size on Kalimdor, reviving all the opponents killed by the monster. To Coldbringer’s dismay, Tartek fell in battle, but the necromancer managed to create a new monster from his remains, now known as Glutton. Later, the lich became firmly established in Razorfen Downs – in the days of classic WoW, he was the final boss of this dungeon. In Warlords of Draenor, the story continued – according to the plot, one of the quilboar tries to resurrect the Coldbringer killed by the players with the help of his phylactery, and the red dragon Koristrasza interrupts the ritual and takes the phylactery to completely destroy the lich.

Tanathal

He is one of two liches in the game that are friendly towards the player. He can be found during the storyline questline in the Borean Tundra, where Thassarian is trying to get the information he is interested in from Tanatal, but cannot harm the physical incarnation of the lich, and therefore sends the player after the phylactery, which lies at the bottom of a small lake under the protection of shadows. Having received the phylactery, Thassarian interrogates the lich about how to get into the Naxanar necropolis, finds out everything he needs, and goes to meet with the Lich King. As you already understood, in this chain the player does not interact directly with Tanatal and cannot talk to him – on the contrary, according to the plot, the lich is an enemy. Probably, the developers made the character peaceful so that no one would accidentally kill him.

Amal’thazad

This is another friendly lich, but unlike Tanathal, he can be interacted with. Amal’thazad stands at the starting location of the death knights, teaching the characters new skills and watching as they are freed from the will of the Lich King.

Amal was once a powerful magician who managed to impress the lord of the undead. When the mage died in battle, the Lich King resurrected him, endowed him with new abilities, and instructed him to train death knights. In the Legion, he became an associate for former students. When assigned as a combat companion, it can be seen that it uses two one-handed blades in combat, just like Frost Death Knights.

Araj the Summoner

He once lived in the Eastern Plaguelands. It was a level 61 elite monster, which is odd considering the location itself was meant for level 51-58 players. Apparently, in the days of classic WoW, developers complicated the monsters needed for the task by simply leveling them up.

Initially, Araj could be summoned by destroying the crystals in the towers of Andorhal. Later, this requirement was removed, and Araj simply stood in the field, available to everyone.

According to the story, he ran the Scholomance, but then moved to Andorhal to deal with the plague that was to infect the Eastern Kingdoms. After Arthas’ defeat, Araj tried to gather the remnants of the Scourge under his command but was unsuccessful and was killed in Andorhal by Horde and Alliance heroes.

Like other liches from WoW, a phylactery was found near the corpse of Araj, which had to be destroyed in order to completely kill the lich.
